Unity & emergeWorlds at SIGGRAPH 2019

Unity+VR+training+and+gaming

It was a pleasure teaming up with Unity 3D at SIGGRAPH 2019 to exhibit Dance Collider and the St John First Aid Skills.

We had a lot of people coming through and giving each experience a try. For some it was their first time trying virtual reality and the Oculus Quest. Others were more experienced and just jumped straight in for a play.

This was the second time the The St John First Aid Skills had been shown on the Oculus Quest. We had a lot of very inquisitive users who were interested to see how training felt in VR. The overwhelming feedback was a very positive one. Users had the freedom to move around the space with no wires. guide a patient into the correct recovery positions and use the voice control functions to ask how they were feeling. The feeling of immersion and realistic training can only be captured in virtual reality.

St John First Aid Skills on the Oculus Quest it is a big step forward for VR training. It represents the future of where the industry is heading and is easy to use, portable, and very immersive.

Unity also asked us to showcase Dance Collider at the event. We had just finished the full version of the game in November so it was good timing to get people dancing. There were a lot of enthusiastic players prepped and a big contingent from South Korea. We loaded in some cool custom songs for them to play including songs from BTS and BlackPink. It’s always fun watching people break a sweat while trying to keep up with the rhythm. Some people are more gifted than others, but as long as everyone had a good time we were happy. Our youngest player over the three days was 4 years old and our oldest was 78. Both had better moves than me!!

Thanks to Unity for inviting us to showcase on their booth. We had a great time showing what is possible using the Unity 3D game engine and checking out other ground breaking projects from around the world. Looking forward to the next one!!
